OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS AND OF THE SICK
Morden Presidium

Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array?

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join the Legion of Mary.

By way of explanation I quote an extract from the Legion Handbook.
Pg.9 Chapter1 - Name and Origin.
"The Legion of Mary....powers"

The Legion of Mary is therefore organised on the model of an army.

Founded by Dublin born Frank Duff, September 7th 1921, the Legion grew rapidly to world wide renown advancing in love and in the service of Mary.

THE PURPOSE of The Legion is to mirror Mary. If true to this ideal the Legion will share her crowning gift to cast light into the hearts of those who are in the darkness of unbelief. We strive to glorify the Lord with Mary to have her before the mind that least in some slight way, at all times, and not leave her out of anything.

THE DUTY of the Legionary towards Mary is the imitation of her humility which is the root and instrument of Legionary action and works which include:

Conducting services in places where there is no Priest to celebrate Sunday Mass.
Religious instruction classes.
Visiting the sick, elderly, house and hospital bound etc.
Recitation of the Rosary at wakes & funerals.
Promoting Catholic Associations.
Parish Surveys.
Stewarding at church services.
Mass servicing etc.
Dissemination of Catholic literature, films, videos etc.
Book Barrows.
Recruiting and after care of Auxiliaries.
Promoting Retreats.
Promoting the practice of Daily Mass & Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in Homes.
And many others.

THE MISSION of The Legion is, in a nut shell, based on Our Lord's last testament immediately before His Ascension...Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. Our first principle therefore is "to set out to establish a contact of some sort with every soul everywhere".

Our Lord, it will be noted does not order that ever person be converted, but only that approach be made to everyone... and that's where we & you come in.

Finally, we meet once a week for one hour on Sundays in the Gill Hall (Parish Centre) at 2pm.

COME AND SEE....

Thank you very much.
