An unusual subject to cover in a novel. I have often wondered whether the twin who lives when the other one dies feels that loss. Alice raised an interesting suggestion as to what might happen with a sensitive child such as Emmaline. I enjoyed the book and was pleased to see the possible personality disorder resolve through the relationship with a very understanding and accepting counsellor and friend.

The Broken Chord by Alice Lynn is expertly written and unfolds a variety of emotions that griped my senses. Without letting out the plot I must add that the protagonists of The Broken Chord, Emaline and Griselda wrapped me in their arms and held me captive until the very last page. I have read Wrenn, Egypt House, Volunteer for Glory and Scattered Pieces by the same author, and even though I qualify them as excellent literary works, The Broken Chord is a masterpiece of originality, a must read.
